Daredevil: Born Again kicks off with a two-episode premiere, streaming exclusively on Disney+. The series is the long-awaited continuation of Netflix’s hit series, which ran for three seasons between 2015 and 2018. Now, Daredevil is tied directly to the larger Marvel Cinematic Universe, making the Defenders Saga official canon once more.
Born Again brings back iconic characters like Matt Murdock, Wilson Fisk, Foggy Nelson, Karen Page, the Punisher, Bullseye, and Vanessa Marianna for another adventure after the events of Daredevil Season 3. However, there are still plenty of other supporting characters who deserve to return to the MCU. From allies to enemies, these underrated Daredevil characters all need to return to Born Again.

Marci Stahl Turned Into a Surprisingly Wholesome Character
Played by Amy Rutberg
Marci Stahl is the longtime girlfriend of Foggy Nelson an ally of Team Daredevil. Also, a lawyer, Marci is introduced as a cutthroat professional who doesn’t seem to care about anyone but herself. As time goes on, however, audiences get to see a different side of Marci, who turns out to be a surprisingly good girlfriend to Foggy, helping him overcome the numerous hurdles he faces in his career and personal life. By the end of the original Daredevil series, Marci and Foggy were still going strong, indicating that they might have a future together.
Daredevil: Born Again needs to bring back Marci Stahl. After the show’s massive creative overhaul, supporting characters like Foggy Nelson and Karen Page were written back into the script, but Marvel can’t stop there. Other periphery characters help round out the series, giving it personality. Marci is a crucial part of Foggy’s storyline and must show up at some point in Born Again. The series could even reveal that she and Foggy have gotten married since the events of Daredevil, cementing one of the most surprising romances in the original series.

Brett Mahoney Was a Key Ally to Team Daredevil
Played by Royce Johnson
Brett Mahoney started Daredevil as a low-level cop who occasionally tipped Foggy Nelson off to potential clients in trouble with the law. However, he quickly rose through the ranks of the NYPD thanks to his reputation for staying clean amid a heavily corrupt city. He was promoted to detective after helping apprehend the Punisher and later aided Daredevil in defeating Kingpin for the second time, saving the city.
Detective Mahoney is a rare beacon of hope for the people of Hell’s Kitchen who often cannot trust authority figures. Though not a perfect man, Mahoney always fights to do what is right, even in the face of extreme difficulty. He is a key ally to Daredevil in his fight for justice and deserves to continue fighting the good fight in Daredevil: Born Again.

Turk Barrett Appeared in Several Defenders Saga Projects
Played by Rob Morgan
Turk Barrett is a minor yet highly recognizable character in the Defenders Saga. He is first introduced as an arms dealer on the Kingpin’s payroll in Daredevil‘s first season. When Fisk is taken down, Turk and his allies are also arrested. However, Turk demonstrates a knack for getting out of prison, having been foiled by Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, and the united Defenders, only to walk the streets a free man once more each time.
Turk Barrett appears in every Defenders Saga series except The Punisher, which is good news for him considering Frank Castle wouldn’t be nearly as merciful as the other heroes of New York City. It is almost tradition to include the street-level criminal in the Defenders Saga. Daredevil: Born Again should include a cameo from the unlucky arms dealer, who could relive old times by being beaten up by a vigilante.

District Attorney Tower May Have a New Position in Daredevil: Born Again
Played by Stephen Rider
Audiences first meet Blake Tower in Daredevil Season 2, where he is introduced as the Assistant District Attorney. When the District Attorney is murdered by someone trying to frame the Punisher, Tower eventually fills her position. As the new District Attorney, Tower proves to be somewhat weak, but ultimately straight-laced. He ultimately emerges as an ally during Team Daredevil’s second battle with Wilson Fisk, helping put him away again in the series finale.

Daredevil Quietly Set Up a Major Marvel Villain Team 10 Years Ago (& We Need to See Them in Born Again)
The first season of Netflix’s Daredevil may have set up a terrifying supervillain team that could wreak havoc upon the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Seven years after the events of Daredevil Season 3, Blake Tower may have risen in the world. Tower was always a man looking for his next opportunity and may have even had his eyes on even higher offices of power. By the events of Born Again, Tower could be revealed as the new governor of New York, as Foggy Nelson once implied was his ultimate plan. If Tower is still the District Attorney, however, he can be sure that his life is about to get much harder now that Wilson Fisk has become the mayor.

Felix Manning Was an Intriguing Henchman of Wilson Fisk
Played by Joe Jones
Felix Manning is a character introduced in Daredevil‘s third season. A “fixer” hired by Wilson Fisk to ensure that his plans go off without a hitch, Manning calmly eliminates anyone trying to put his boss back behind bars. He is foiled by Daredevil in the series finale, offering to testify against the Fisks in exchange for a lighter sentence.
Felix Manning is Daredevil’s trump card that keeps Wilson Fisk from revealing his secret identity to the world. Manning’s testimony would prove that Vannesa Fisk was behind the murder of Special Agent Ray Nadeem, which could earn her a life sentence in prison. At the end of Daredevil, Fisk agrees to keep Matt’s secret and remain in prison in exchange for keeping his wife free. If Fisk were to eliminate Manning, however, he may not be bound to his promise any longer.

Maggie Murdock Has a Complicated Relationship With Her Son
Played by Joanne Whalley
Matt Murdock grew up without a mother, believing his father’s claims that she had died a long time ago. However, as an adult, Matt learned that his mother had left the family and became a nun at a nearby Catholic Church. Much to his surprise and anger, Sister Maggie, one of the nuns who helped raise him in the orphanage, was his biological mother.
Maggie and Matt’s relationship had always been tense, but things got even worse between them when he learned the truth. By the end of the series, however, Matt was willing to forgive his mother and offered her a chance to get to know him better. Hopefully, Born Again can reveal what became of their relationship–and whether or not they were able to put the past behind them.

Anna Nelson Deserves More Screentime After Daredevil Season 3

Foggy steps in to save his family and their business, allowing his parents to finally retire and move to Florida.

Daredevil: Born Again features the rematch between Matt Murdock and Kingpin, but the original Netflix series set up this next chapter 10 years ago.
Although Anna Nelson is not a particularly memorable character, Daredevil: Born Again should bring her back if only to give the actress a meatier role. Anna is played by Dierdre O’Connell, who recently starred in DC’s The Penguin as Oz Cobb’s mother. O’Connell proved her terrific acting chops in the Max original series, giving Marvel all the reason they needed to bring her back for Born Again.

Melvin Potter Has a Knack For Making Superhero Suits
Played by Matt Gerald
Melvin Potter is a reformed criminal with a knack for creating epic superhero suits. Originally hired by Wilson Fisk to fashion body armor, he is eventually commissioned by Matt Murdock to create his first Daredevil suit. Unfortunately, Matt found himself unable to trust Melvin after he helped Fisk make a second Daredevil suit for Benjamin Poindexter. Matt ensured that Melvin was taken to prison thereafter.
Since the events of Daredevil, it seems Matt Murdock has found a new suit designer in Luke Jacobson on the West Coast. However, he may find himself needing someone a bit closer to home to help make his future Daredevil suits. Perhaps Matt will find it in his heart to give Melvin Potter a second chance.

Mitchell Ellison Is a Stellar Reporter With a Hilarious Disposition

Mithcell Ellison is the editor-in-chief at the New York Bulletin who initially comes to Team Daredevil’s attention as a potential employee of Wilson Fisk assigned to ensure that the newspaper never printed anything negative about him. After Ben Urich’s death, it is revealed that Ellison wasn’t on Fisk’s payroll after all. In later seasons, Ellison helps train Karen Page, guiding her to become one of the city’s best reporters.

Daredevil: Born Again Needs to Avoid This 1 Controversial Storyline from the Comics
With Daredevil: Born Again fast approaching, fans are hoping not to see certain aspects of Karen Page’s comic book story adapted for the new series.
Ellison is one of Daredevil‘s best-supporting characters. Although not one of the show’s central figures, he is surprisingly complicated, emerging as a three-dimensional character all the same. His scenes with Karen Page are always entertaining, as he uses his sarcasm and know-how to help guide her on the path to becoming a better reporter. Audiences would love to see Ellison return in some capacity in Born Again, perhaps continuing his career as a successful newsman.

Claire Temple Needs a Reunion With Matt Murdock
Played by Rosario Dawson
Claire Temple is a major player in the Defenders Saga. She first meets Matt Murdock when she pulls him out of a dumpster after a brutal fight. Helping tend his wounds, Claire inadvertently becomes Matt’s go-to nurse, tangling her in the complicated life of Team Daredevil. Claire seems to be a superhero magnet, as she finds herself going on adventures with each member of the Defenders over the years, most notably Luke Cage, with whom she begins a romantic relationship.
Claire Temple is the “Phil Coulson” of the Defenders Saga, popping up in each project to provide the connective tissue that would eventually bring all the series together into one epic team-up. She may not have any superpowers of her own, but Claire deserves to make a long-awaited return to the MCU. Actress Rosario Dawson has a good relationship with Disney, having starred as Ahsoka Tano in several Star Wars Disney+ series, making her potential appearance in Daredevil: Born Again seem all the more likely.
