THIS HAPPENED AT COMMUNITY PARK AROUND 3 P.M. POLICE ARE ADVISING PEOPLE TO AVOID THIS AREA. KCRA 3’S PEYTON HEADLEY JOINS US LIVE FROM THE POLICE STATION. PEYTON. POLICE GAVE AN UPDATE WITHIN THE LAST 30 MINUTES OR SO. WHAT HAVE WE LEARNED? YEAH, SO WE’RE LEARNING MORE ABOUT THOSE THREE VICTIMS. WE KNOW THAT TWO OF THEM WERE TEENAGERS, AND ONE OF THEM WAS A 24 YEAR OLD ADULT. SO WE HAVE SOME VIDEO FROM THE SCENE FROM A LITTLE BIT EARLIER THAT WE GOT AROUND 4:00 THIS AFTERNOON. SO WE KNOW THAT OFFICERS WERE PATROLLING THE AREA AROUND 3:00, AND THEY HEARD WHAT THEY BELIEVE SOUNDED LIKE GUNSHOTS. THEY SAID. ALSO, THEY NOTED THERE WAS A LARGE GATHERING OF PEOPLE THERE PRIOR TO THE SHOOTING. I TALKED TO A FEW GIRLS WHO TOLD ME THEY HAD BEEN THERE FOR A CONCERT, AND EVEN AFTERWARDS WHEN WE GOT THERE, WE SAW HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE LEAVING THE AREA. SO A VERY BUSY DAY AT THAT PARK. AS FOR INJURIES, LIKE WE MENTIONED, WE KNOW AT LEAST THREE VICTIMS WERE TRANSPORTED TO THE HOSPITAL WITH GUNSHOT WOUNDS. THE POLICE DEPARTMENT HAD PREVIOUSLY SAID THAT ONE PERSON WAS INJURED BECAUSE THEY WERE TRAMPLED, BUT POLICE HAVE NOW SAID THAT INFORMATION WAS INACCURATE. JUST GOES TO SHOW HOW EARLY ON THEY ARE IN THIS INVESTIGATION. BUT WE DO KNOW THAT THERE WERE A LOT OF OFFICERS ALREADY IN THAT AREA BECAUSE OF PICNIC DAY, A BIG DAY FOR UNIVERSITY OF DAVIS STUDENTS, UC DAVIS STUDENTS, A LOT OF DIFFERENT EVENTS GOING ON THROUGHOUT THE TOWN. WE DROVE THROUGH DOWNTOWN. THERE WERE HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE OUT AS THEY’RE OUT THERE AS WELL. BUT WE DO KNOW THAT THIS WAS A PERMITTED PARTY. WE’RE TOLD THEY’VE HAD THIS SAME PARTY IN YEARS PAST. THEY’VE NEVER HAD ANY ISSUES BEFORE. BUT AS FOR SUSPECTS, RIGHT NOW, THE POLICE DEPARTMENT SAYS THEY DON’T HAVE ANY INFORMATION TO SHARE. THEY ALSO DON’T HAVE ANYONE IN CUSTODY. BUT AGAIN, THE INFORMATION THAT WE HAVE RIGHT NOW, THREE VICTIMS AFTER A SHOOTING AT COMMUNITY PARK, A LARGE GATHERING THERE, WE KNOW THOSE VICTIMS. TWO OF THEM ARE TEENAGERS. ONE OF THEM AS AN ADULT. BUT OF COURSE, WE’LL KEEP WORKING TO GET YOU MORE INFORMATION, AND WE’LL BRING THAT TO YOU TONIGHT. FOR NOW, LIVE IN DAVIS. PEYTON HEADLEY KCRA THREE NEWS. PEYTON, THANK YOU.
