AEW Dynamite Results 1/8 – Will Ospreay Faces Buddy Matthews, #1 Contenders Casino Gauntlet Match & More

The bell rings and White exchanges chops with Page. Page gets White up on his shoulders, but White escapes. White rolls up Page, but Page kicks out and looks to land the Buckshot Lariat on White. White sees him coming and looks to counter into the Blade Runner, but Page escapes. White counters into a superplex on Page.

Wheeler Yuta is next up in the match, and White immediately catches him with a Blade Runner. He goes for a pin, but Page breaks the fall. Page then delivers a clothesline to White in the corner.

Ricochet is the next entrant in the match (psyching out the crowd initially by having Swerve Strickland’s music play). Yuta tries blindsiding Page, but Page sees him coming and dumps him out of the ring. Page then turns around into a clothesline from Ricochet off the top rope, and Ricochet follows it up with a crossbody and a springboard moonsault.

Back from the break, Ricochet and Yuta deliver clotheslines to White and Page. White and Page dump Ricochet and Yuta out of the ring over the top. Adam Cole is next up in the match, and lands a superkick on White. He catches Yuta with another one on the apron, and lands one on Ricochet as he flies off the top rope. He delivers the Panama City Sunrise on Ricochet and goes for a pin, but Ricochet kicks out.

Daniel Garcia is the next entrant, and Cole delivers a kick to Garcia’s knee. Garcia responds with a swinging neckbreaker, then fires off right hands on Cole. He stacks Page and White on top of Cole and rains down right hands on all three of them. Yuta slides into the ring and stares down Garcia, and the two exchange chops with one another.

Powerhouse Hobbs is next up in the match, and he sends Ricochet crashing onto the floor. He delivers a suplex to Yuta, then lands ones on Cole and White. Page lands a clothesline on Hobbs in the corner, but Hobbs responds with a suplex to him.

Back from another break, Hobbs turns Ricochet inside out with a clothesline. Hobbs charges at Ricochet in the corner, but Ricochet moves out of the way. Roderick Strong is the next entrant, and he delivers a pair of backbreakers to White and Page. He sends Yuta crashing on top of Page, but Ricochet beats him down. Cole and Garcia come to Strong’s aid, but Hobbs runs over Cole and Garcia with a clothesline. White lands a suplex on Ricochet and sets up for Blade Runner, but Yuta low blows White.

Lance Archer is up next, and he chokeslams Yuta onto the apron. He chokeslams White and chokeslams Strong on top of Cole, then chokeslams Garcia into the corner and catches Ricochet as he looks to fly. He sends him crashing into the mat, and Hobbs dumps Ricochet across the ring. Archer tosses Ricochet back over to Hobbs, but Hobbs lands a powerslam on Archer.

Kyle O’Reilly is the next entrant, and O’Reilly takes down Yuta. He delivers a Dragon Screw to Archer, and double teams on Ricochet with Strong. Page runs over Strong with a boot, and Cole connects with a shoulderbreaker off of his shoulders. Strong and O’Reilly then double team on Hobbs.

Jeff Jarrett is next up in the match, but Yuta clocks him from behind and fires off right hands on him. The two brawl to the back as Archer sets up for Blackout on Hobbs. Hobbs escapes, but O’Reilly fires off kicks on him. Hobbs intercepts O’Reilly with a spinebuster for the win.

Winner (and new Number One Contender): Powerhouse Hobbs

After the match, Jeff Jarrett stays behind in the ring to chat with Ian Riccaboni. MJF’s music hits and he makes his way out to introduce himself to Jarrett. He makes it clear that he wants the AEW World Championship back, then takes a couple of shots at Jarrett and says he’s in the ring to help Jarrett. He says the way he sees it, Jarrett has one year left to prove that he still has it. He offers his help to Jarrett, but Jarrett calls MJF a one hit wonder and says he wants to crawl, scratch, and fight his way back to the top of the mountain. He says MF could’ve entered the Casino Gauntlet but opted not to. He makes it clear that he doesn’t need MJF and heads to the back.

Cope then makes his way out to the ring.
