All 3 Movies In Jackie Chan & Chris Tucker’s Buddy Cop Franchise Are Available On Netflix, And Another Sequel Is Still In The Works

Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker have proven to be a hilarious dynamic duo through their three-film franchise, now streaming on Netflix. Both Chan and Tucker have appeared in various action movies and comedies throughout their respective careers. However, when Chan and Tucker teamed up to star in the aforementioned film series, the two actors thrived side by side, which is why they appeared in three (soon to be four) movies together.

Jackie Chan reprises his role as Mr. Han in Karate Kid: Legends, the sixth film in The Karate Kid franchise, on May 30, 2025. As for Chris Tucker, the comedian’s only upcoming movie is Rush Hour 4.

Chan is arguably the greatest kung fu movie star of all time, while Tucker is a talented comedian. Together, they make the perfect pair. It’s not surprising that their buddy cop action comedy franchise is as popular as it is (and why it started trending right after Netflix added the film series to its streaming library).

Jackie Chan & Chris Tucker Made 3 Rush Hour Films Together

As of the writing of this article, Rush Hour, Rush Hour 2, and Rush Hour 3 can be found in Netflix’s catalog. The first two films in the series are even trending, with the quotable Rush Hour sitting at number three and Rush Hour 2 at number six on Netflix’s charts. The franchise kicked off in September 1998, and its first movie was an immediate hit. Rush Hour was not only a critical success but also a box office triumph, grossing $245.3 million against an estimated budget of $35 million. So, it’s not surprising that it produced two sequels.

Lee and Carter work well together in the action comedy movie Rush Hour, resulting in their returns in Rush Hour 2 and Rush Hour 3 to work on other cases.

In the Rush Hour franchise, Jackie Chan stars as Chief Inspector Lee, while Chris Tucker plays Detective James Carter. Lee teams up with Carter in the first film to find a Chinese diplomat’s kidnapped daughter. The two characters make for an unlikely pair. However, Lee and Carter work well together in the action comedy movie Rush Hour, resulting in their returns in Rush Hour 2 and Rush Hour 3 to work on other cases.

The reason why Rush Hour 4 is taking so long to be made is complicated. For starters, director Brett Ratner was accused of sexual misconduct in 2017, and he hasn’t made a movie since. Technicalities concerning distribution rights have also been a major problem for Rush Hour 4‘s progress. Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker have been vocal about their desire to return in another Rush Hour sequel, though, meaning the project isn’t dead.

Rush Hour

The Rush Hour franchise is a series of action-comedy films centered around the unlikely partnership between Chief Inspector Lee, a disciplined and highly skilled detective from Hong Kong, and Detective James Carter, a fast-talking LAPD officer. The films are known for their blend of martial arts action, comedy, and the chemistry between the two leads, Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker. The franchise has been a significant box office success, leading to three films, a TV series, and ongoing discussions about a potential fourth installment.
