Jackie Chan & Chris Tucker Made 3 Rush Hour Films Together

As of the writing of this article, Rush Hour, Rush Hour 2, and Rush Hour 3 can be found in Netflix’s catalog. The first two films in the series are even trending, with the quotable Rush Hour sitting at number three and Rush Hour 2 at number six on Netflix’s charts. The franchise kicked off in September 1998, and its first movie was an immediate hit. Rush Hour was not only a critical success but also a box office triumph, grossing $245.3 million against an estimated budget of $35 million. So, it’s not surprising that it produced two sequels.

In the Rush Hour franchise, Jackie Chan stars as Chief Inspector Lee, while Chris Tucker plays Detective James Carter. Lee teams up with Carter in the first film to find a Chinese diplomat’s kidnapped daughter. The two characters make for an unlikely pair. However, Lee and Carter work well together in the action comedy movie Rush Hour, resulting in their returns in Rush Hour 2 and Rush Hour 3 to work on other cases.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Rush Hour 4 was being shopped to production studios in 2024, but that is the sequel’s latest update.

The reason why Rush Hour 4 is taking so long to be made is complicated. For starters, director Brett Ratner was accused of sexual misconduct in 2017, and he hasn’t made a movie since. Technicalities concerning distribution rights have also been a major problem for Rush Hour 4‘s progress. Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker have been vocal about their desire to return in another Rush Hour sequel, though, meaning the project isn’t dead.
