Halle Berry‘s boyfriend, Van Hunt, will testify in her ongoing divorce battle with ex-husband Olivier Martinez.
The actress’s divorce takes a surprising twist as she and her former partner prepare to call key witnesses to the stand in the ongoing coparenting case.
Halle Berry and Olivier Martinez remain in a headlock over terms of agreement in the divorce and even recently disputed a judge’s tentative ruling in the case.
Halle Berry’s Partner Set To Testify In Custody Battle With Olivier Martinez
The actress’ partner will stand in the dock to testify in her custody battle. Martinez also plans to call her former longtime employee to the stand.
Berry has shown total commitment to the process, as court documents revealed that she submitted her witness list weeks before being billed to confront her former husband.
She will reportedly be taking the stand to testify about her reservations about Martinez’s coparenting and her belief that his actions directly tamper with Maceo’s growth.
The actress said she would call Martinez to question him about her claims and then call her boyfriend to answer questions for about 30 minutes.
Hunt will reportedly address his communications with Martinez, his “efforts to promote coparenting between the parties, and his observations regarding [Halle’s] efforts to coparent with [Olivier].”
Per In Touch, Berry will also grill a woman named Erica, who she said will inform the Court about Olivier’s attempts to “interfere with Maceo’s therapeutic process and Maceo’s relationship with [Halle].”
Martinez Will Examine His Estranged Wife In The Witness Dock For Two Hours
Berry will not be the only one taking stock of events from third parties. Martinez also has one or two tricks up his sleeve, including inviting the actress, himself, and another entity to testify.
When he is done interviewing Berry, he will also grill another woman named Miriam, who worked for Berry for 20 years until October 2024.
Martinez noted that Miryam plans to testify about her “observations of Maceo in [Halle’s] care and Maceo’s interactions with [Halle], as well as her interactions and communications with [Halle] as it relates to the minor child, this [divorce] and custody proceeding.”
The Former Couple Teamed Up To Dispute A Judge’s Order Earlier This Month
In a rare occurrence, The Blast shared that the exes filed separate motions opposing and objecting to a judge’s verdict. The presiding judge reportedly passed a temporary ruling on Martinez’s plea for support.
The actor initially asked the Court to order his ex-wife to settle over $360,000 for his legal expenses. Martinez recorded victory as the judge supported his claims and ordered the Oscar-winning actress to pay $271,052 in legal fees and $6,015 in sanctions.
The judge, however, pulled a reverse uno by slamming Martinez with $59,893 in sanctions for his ex-wife. The feuding estranged couple instantly disapproved of the move. Berry’s lawyer argued:
“The Court’s ruling on sanctions against Halle in the sum of$6,015 violates Halle’s due process rights and is prohibited as a matter of law. Furthermore, the Court made factual findings that were incomplete, inconsistent with, or contrary to the evidence presented.”
The French Star Claimed The Award Winning Actress Attempted To Intimidate Him
Shortly after Berry filed to obtain full custody of their son, Martinez issued a counter-response accusing the actress of intimidation due to her powerful status.
The actor’s attorney claimed she used “her extraordinarily high income for months to try to create a false narrative regarding [Olivier’s] cooperation with [Halle].” He established that his client did not have the monetary range to respond to her letters and emails, adding:
“She is now trying to use her ability to pay any and all amounts of her own attorneys’ fees to trample on [Olivier’s] rights and gain sole decision-making ability regarding crucial decisions in Maceo’s life, a child who spends 50 percent of his time with each of his parents.”
Halle Berry Accused Olivier Martinez Of Making A Living Off Her Child Support Payments
Berry, through her lawyer, claimed Martinez failed to secure employment for himself and chose to rely on her monthly child support payments. The attorney also blamed him for the protracted custody case since their settlement in 2023. In his words:
“While it is true that Halle was the one to initiate mediation and this post-judgment proceeding, none of it would have been necessary if Olivier had simply come to the table as a parent and addressed time-sensitive and necessary issues for Maceo.”
The Court had previously ordered Berry to pay Martinez $8000 monthly for their son’s upkeep and maintenance. The former couple were also mandated to show up for co-parenting therapy sessions, but the actress complained that her ex had not been attending counseling for months.
Halle Berry and Olivier Martinez went their separate ways in 2015 but did not settle their bitter divorce in late 2023.
