Wet heavy snow, colder air, and strong winds develop behind a passing system over Upper Michigan Monday night. The snow spreads west to east through Tuesday morning. Lake effect snow ramps up this evening through tomorrow morning across the northern U.P. This will be coupled with strong wind gusts ranging from 35-45 mph. Travel conditions will be hazardous with sloppy roads and blowing snow.
Therefore, a First Alert Weather Day will be in effect for Gogebic, Ontonagon, Houghton, Keweenaw, Baraga and Western Marquette counties Monday evening through noon Tuesday. Baseline snowfall will be 1-3″ along Lake Superior, 4-6″ for the Western/Northern U.P., and potentially 6-10″ in the higher elevations. The snow ends Tuesday evening east.
Sunny breaks, warmer spring temperatures ensue Wednesday, before a system brings rain, potential thunderstorms Thursday evening through Friday.
