Ian Moore Signs NHL Contract with Anaheim Ducks


CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Senior captain Ian Moore has signed a two-year entry-level contract with the Anaheim Ducks, the club announced today. 

Moore, a staple on the blue line throughout his four years in Cambridge captained the program for the last two seasons. Moore has played 122 career games becoming just the ninth defender since 2002 to play 120+ games in a Crimson uniform. A member of the 2023 ECAC Championship team, Moore recorded a goal and an assist in the championship game to send Harvard to the NCAA Championship and upset Quinnipiac in the final at Herb Brooks Arena in Lake Placid. 

One of the top rookie defensemen in the country his rookie year, Moore recorded two goals and 13 assists, with a +16 rating in 35 games and was named to ECAC All-Rookie Team, All-Tournament team, and earned an All-Ivy Honorable mention. 

As a sophomore he recorded a career high 19 points with a goal and 19 assists in 34 games. Moore started his second year with a four game points streak and picked up a key helper on the Marek Hejduk game winning goal to defeat Boston College in the first round of the Beanpot. 

Moore added the game winning goal against Princeton in the first round of the ECAC playoffs in his first season leading the Crimson as a junior. 

Returning to lead the Crimson in his senior year he was named to the All-Ivy second team and recorded a career-best 60 blocked shots to finish his career fourth all-time in blocked shots. His 56 career points is good for seventh in program history dating back to 2002-03 trailing notable Crimson d-men Adam Fox, Danny Biega, Henry Thrun, Reilly Walsh, and Alex Biega. 

Moore was drafted by the Anaheim Ducks in the third round (67th overall) in the 2020 NHL Entry Draft and represented the United States at the 2020 World Junior Championships.
