There’s finally a buyer for Justin Kurzel’s “The Narrow Road to the Deep North.”

Prime Video has acquired the U.S. rights to the limited series, which stars Jacob Elordi. Not just that, the five-part series is now set for release this coming Friday, April 18. We’re going to get to see it in less than four days from now.

The project was announced in late 2022 and is based on Richard Flanagan’s novel. It tells the story of an Australian doctor haunted by memories of a love affair with his uncle’s wife and of his subsequent experiences as a Far East prisoner of war during the construction of the Burma Railway. Decades later, he finds his growing celebrity at odds with his feelings of failure and guilt.

“The Narrow Road to the Deep North” premiered to glowing reviews at the 75th Berlin Film Festival. The cast includes Elordi as the lead, alongside Odessa Young, Ciarán Hinds, Olivia DeJonge, Heather Mitchell, Thomas Weatherall, Show Kasamatsu, Charles An, and Simon Baker.

Kurzel is coming off last year’s well-reviewed “The Order,” starring Jude Law and Nicholas Hoult. Kurzel’s “Nitram,” which won Caleb Landry Jones the Best Actor prize at Cannes 2021, might be the best film of the filmmaker’s career. His other directing credits include “Snowtown,” “Macbeth,” and “The True History of the Kelly Gang.”

Kurzel recently revealed that his next film would be an adaptation of the book “Burning Rainbow Farm,” and would star Sebastian Stan. It would tackle the true story of two marijuana advocates who had a five-day standoff with the FBI, which resulted in both of their deaths.
