LeBron James singles out Tyrese Maxey after Sixers beat Lakers
PHILADELPHIA — The Philadelphia 76ers needed their young star to step up to the plate on Tuesday when they played host to LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers. The Lakers were riding a 4-game winning streak and the Sixers were once again playing short-handed without their stars.
With Joel Embiid, Paul George, and others sidelined, the onus was on Tyrese Maxey to get the job done. He responded with 43 points on 15-for-26 shooting and led the Sixers to a 118-104 win over the Lakers. Philadelphia has now won three in a row and kept pace with the Chicago Bulls for the final play-in spot in the East.
Maxey’s big performance earned praise from James after the win.
