Inigo Martinez caught the eye against Leganes with a brilliant late tackle on Munir as Barcelona ran out 1-0 winners at Butarque.
The defender was spotted celebrating after making the tackle and admitted it felt like scoring a goal.
“For me, that’s like scoring a goal. Defensive actions where you’re accurate and prevent a goal… it’s a joy for me to contribute in that regard. A huge effort from the team today,” he said.
“At home, we had many chances to win, but we weren’t accurate. Today, we knew where we were coming from. They’re taking it upon themselves and fighting until the end. You can’t always win by five. Knowing how to endure and win this game means a lot to us.
“It’s not easy to win, and even more so in this final stretch. We have to keep doing our best; there will be better days and worse. Through persistence and suffering, we’ve earned these three very important points.”
Martinez was not the only player to come up with a huge tackle in the match. Raphinha also deserves credit for a brilliant tackle at the end of the first half which also seemed to prevent a certain goal.
