A first-round pick in 2011, Smith started his career playing one season at right tackle before sliding over to protect Tony Romo’s blindside. He remained Dak Prescott’s main shield — and the eight other quarterbacks who made starts along Smith’s 13 seasons in Dallas.

Smith was the crown jewel of some excellent lines in Dallas alongside fellow retirees Zack Martin and Travis Frederick. A wall on the left side, Smith allowed 39 career sacks over 14 seasons, per Pro Football Focus. After giving up eight as an RT during his rookie season, he never gave up more than five in any campaign and generated four seasons allowing a single sack (min. 400 snaps).

As they often do, injuries took their toll on the big man. Smith missed 44 games over the past five seasons and hadn’t played a full slate since 2015.
