HONOLULU – The No. 4 University of Hawai’i men’s volleyball team hosts rival No. 1 Long Beach State in a highly anticipated two-match Big West series, Friday, April 11 and Saturday, April 12 at SimpliFi Arena at Stan Sheriff Center. Both matches begin at 7:00 p.m. The Rainbow Warriors (22-3, 5-1 BW) and Beach (23-1, 5-1) are tied atop the Big West standings with only four regular season matches remaining.
Arena doors will open 30 minutes early at 5:30 p.m. for both matches.

Saturday, April 12 – Senior Night

- Following Saturday’s match, UH will honor five seniors during the traditional Senior Night ceremony — ‘Eleu Choy, Kawai Hong, Kurt Nusterer, Zachary Thompson, and Clay Wieter. Nusterer will forgo his final year of eligibility.
- Choy has appeared in 74 career matches with 60 starts at libero during his five-year career. Nusterer has 56 starts in 65 career matches in three seasons. Thompson has appeared in three matches during his two seasons at UH. Hong and Wieter are completing their first seasons.
- Saturday’s match is sold out, marking the 14th all-time men’s volleyball sellout at SimpliFi Arena and the fourth Senior Night sellout. UH has won its last six sold-out matches dating back to 1997.
- LBSU leads the all-time series, 52-48, however UH holds a 27-20 advantage in Honolulu.
- UH has won six of the last eight home matches in the series since 2018. Two of those wins were in the Big West Championship match (2019 & ’22).
- Over the last four seasons, the teams have split the last 10 matches played.
- The 100 matches in the series is tied for the most against one opponent in UH history along with the UH-UC Santa Barbara series.
- Since the first season of the Big West in 2018, the Beach have won eight of the 12 regular season match-ups.
- UH coach Charlie Wade is 15-20 against the Beach since taking over the program in 2010. In head-to-head match-ups with LBSU coach Alan Knipe, Wade has a 11-18 record.
- UH is 30-4 all-time in Big West regular season home matches, including a 4-0 mark this season. Two of the four losses were against Long Beach State (2018 & ’23).
- UH has a 6-3 record this season against teams ranked in the AVCA Top 10.
- Wade is now two wins shy from matching former coach Mike Wilton’s all-time program record of 316 victories. Wade has a 314-127 record in 16 seasons at Hawai’i.
