Hempstead, NY – The Hofstra men’s lacrosse team earned a pair of weekly awards from the CAA today as Anthony Mollica was named the CAA Offensive Player of the Week and Drew Bogardus garnered CAA Rookie of the Week accolades, it was announced by the conference office this afternoon.
Mollica had a spectacular season-opener on Saturday in the Pride’s 20-2 win over Iona. Mollica poured in a career-high six points on career-highs of four goals and two assists. He scored his four goals on just five shots and added a ground ball in the contest.
It was Mollica’s fourth career hat trick and the first time he has eclipsed five points in a game in his career.
Bogardus shined in his first collegiate contest. Bogardus tallied four points on three goals and one assist, while also adding a pair of caused turnovers and a ground ball.
His hat trick was one of four in the contest for the Pride and it marked the best debut for a freshman in a season opener since Justin Sykes had six points on four goals and two assists and Sam Lutfi had four points on one goal and three assists in a 21-11 win over Wagner on February 8, 2020.
