RALEIGH, N.C. — NC State is reportedly set to hire former Eagles linebackers coach D.J. Eliot as the program’s next defensive coordinator, according to Pete Thamel of ESPN. Eliot is a long-time defensive coordinator who has served in the same role at Colorado, Kentucky, Kansas and Temple.
Eliot most recently served in a consulting role with Baylor after spending nearly a decade as a defensive coordinator in the aforementioned spots. The 48-year-old assistant began his coaching career in 1999 at Wyoming and has more than 20 years experience as a college assistant after earning his first position coach job as a Texas State DBs coach in 2003.
