New England maps show how much snow, ice our region will get

New England will likely see all kinds of precipitation with a fast-moving storm set to sweep into the region on Thursday as warmer temperatures settle in and we shift from morning snow to a wintry mix of sleet or freezing rain. The stormy weather should last less than six or eight hours and exit the region by mid-afternoon.

In the Boston area and Southern New England, the snow is expected to start around sunrise and quickly change to sleet or freezing rain, and then all rain along the coast, in southeastern Mass. and south of Providence.

Areas west of I-495 to Pittsfield will see more snow than any other precipitation type. New Hampshire, Vermont, and Maine will welcome all snow from this system.
