The Game” will have huge Big Ten Championship ramifications for Penn State. A Michigan win and a Penn State victory over Maryland would put the Nittany Lions into the Big Ten title game. I see this game being tight throughout the first half with the Buckeyes making a few early mistakes that Michigan capitalizes on. However, the Ohio State defense will win this game with a dominant second-half showing. They might even shut down the Wolverines’ offense the entire second half. The Buckeyes get their revenge from the past three seasons and book a date with Oregon in the Big Ten Championship.
Kevin: Ohio State
Michigan has held the upper hand in this storied rivalry the last couple of years, but this Michigan team is not one that should be worthy of being on the same field of the playoff-bound Buckeyes. Ohio State is a massive favorite in this year’s edition of The Game and a spot in the Big Ten championship is Ohio State’s to lose. Perhaps more importantly, a win will lock Ohio State into a playoff spot regardless of what may happen in the Big Ten title game against Oregon. A loss would make for an interesting discussion, although I think they’ll be OK either way for the playoff.
Michigan just doesn’t have the horsepower required to wear down Ohio State’s defense this season the way they have in recent years. I think Michigan does keep this respectable and I’d strongly consider taking Michigan to cover. But Ohio State is the most logical pick every way you look at this game.
Shayne: Ohio State
Penn State still has a chance at a Big Ten title game appearance thanks to Indiana’s loss to Ohio State, but unfortunately, their fate lies in the hands of one of the most disappointing teams in the country. Michigan has fallen from National Champions to barely bowl eligible at 6-5 this season.
Ohio State is at home for this years edition of The Game as well, adding to the difficulty for Michigan. If they do manage to get the upset, however, Penn State owes them big time.
