JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – After a record-breaking hot November with more 80-degree days in history, we’re going to skip through our normal fall temperatures and ice skate right into winter.

The average temperatures for Christmas Day in Jacksonville are mid-60s for the highs and mid-40s for the lows. And, while it rarely snows or freezes at Jacksonville International Airport, we might see the latter early next week.

Thanksgiving evening will be pleasant across the region with temperatures dropping into the upper 40 in Southeast Georgia where the cold front has already passed through. A few storms were associated with the cold front.

Northeast Florida won’t see the rain Thursday evening; however, temperatures will continue to fall into the normal high range. Rain throughout Northeast Florida will come Friday around lunchtime and last until dinner time.

Then you’d better bundle up, as the cold air settles in.

This weekend won’t be too cold, but very much like last weekend, although winter-like vs normal fall, with lows in the mid-40s and highs only reaching the low 60s by Sunday. A frost advisory could be issued early Sunday morning.

Be sure to prep your plants, pets, and people for the possibility of cold weather over the next week.

By Tuesday, a freeze isn’t out of the question for areas of Southeast Georgia and inland Northeast Florida, continuing into Wednesday morning.
