Seth Trimble expected to play vs. SMU on Tuesday night

After Hubert Davis provided some positive injury news regarding the status of junior guard Seth Trimble, Sean May confirmed what UNC basketball fans were hoping to hear:

Seth Trimble is expected to play when the UNC basketball program hosts SMU on Tuesday night in Chapel Hill.

Filling in for Davis on his weekly radio show with Jones Angell, May had this to say regarding the Tar Heels versatile junior guard:

“Seth had to get healthy, and I think the smartest thing for him was to take the time that he needed to get healthy. We’re glad we’re going to have him back, no question. And we look for him to have a big game tomorrow, so we can come out on top with a win.”

Trimble has been forced to miss the Tar Heels last three games, as his absence was definitely noticed. On the defensive end, North Carolina definitely missed his presence, as he’s able to guard multiple positions at an elite level.

May went on to echo that sentiment.

“It puts a lot of pressure on RJ (Davis) and Elliot (Cadeau) to play the bulk of the minutes. And even though Ian (Jackson) has come along, Seth is kind of, he just kind of stabilizes you. He can go guard anybody. He can switch. We can put him on a big guy and know that he’s OK. So for us not to have him, his ability to put pressure on the rim, another person that has been making 3s for us. It was a void, and we did feel it.”

Trimble has taken a significant leap this season, averaging 14.8 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 1.7 assists per game. His production has increased alongside his significantly increased role, as he’s been a very valuable member of this year’s squad.

It’s great to hear that Trimble is set to return, as he’s a very important piece for this year’s squad.
