Logan Couture’s time in the National Hockey League is coming to an end.

The San Jose Sharks have called for a press conference on Tuesday, where captain Couture will announce he is unable to resume his career, Sportsnet can confirm.

During the 2023-24 season, the 15-year veteran was diagnosed with osteitis pubis, a condition that causes painful inflammation in the groin area. He only played six games that season and has not dressed for a game since Jan. 31, 2024.

About 10 years after his NHL debut on Oct. 25, 2009, Couture was named captain of the Sharks ahead of the 2019-20 campaign.

Couture finishes his career having recorded 323 goals and 378 assists over 933 games. In the playoffs, he contributed 101 points over 116 games. All of his NHL games were played in a Sharks jersey.

The now 36-year-old was originally drafted ninth overall by San Jose in 2007.
