SZA has made it clear that she’s not a fan of Shannon Sharpe’s latest podcast antics regarding her body image.
The Grammy-winning singer recently voiced her frustration after a clip from Sharpe’s Club Shay Shay interview with Coco Jones surfaced, featuring an unexpected question about SZA’s BBL procedure.
During the episode, Sharpe steered the conversation toward the SOS star’s previous admission that she regretted getting a Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL). For whatever reason, the retired NFL star asked Jones if she had ever spoken to anyone who had similar regrets. Seemingly bewildered, the “ICU” singer diplomatically responded, “Um, no,” adding, “The girls that I talk to, they be like, ‘Girl, do this.’”
SZA wasted no time reacting to the moment. The megastar jumped into the podcast’s comment section with, “Lmaooo now why would this be a question for Coco,” she wrote. “Poor baby, she handled it well now Shay Shay.”
She then followed up with a direct jab at Sharpe: “Incredibly tacky .. I wanted to come here too, dah well.”
Many others in the comment section agreed with her sentiments. “So tacky of him,” one person echoed as another remarked, “Love you unk but stop asking your women guests about other women..just ask their opinion on the topic.”
Sharpe’s line of questioning referenced SZA’s November 2024 British Vogue interview, where she candidly admitted she was initially “so mad” about getting the surgery, though she’s since embraced it. “I gained all this weight from being immobile while recovering and trying to preserve the fat. It was just so stupid,” she said. “But who gives a f**k? You got a BBL, you realize you didn’t need that sh*t. It doesn’t matter.”
This isn’t the first time SZA has called out public discourse surrounding her body.
Prior, the NJ-native criticized fans for what she described as “weird” commentary about her appearance. Last December, she clapped back at an X user who made a remark about her pre-BBL look, writing, “Y’all say weird sh*t like this and wonder why I’m different and don’t feel comfortable w y’all anymore.” SZA was responding to a fan who replied to the throwback picture of her with “aka before she got big and bbl culture like.”
SZA then clarified in a follow-up post that she was addressing how different she is with her fanbase. “Yall do realize I mean different as in I don’t go on live+ talk and don’t communicate w yall like that anymore lmao,” she declared. “Not different as in change my appearance tf.”
