The Goonies cast reunited for the second time in recent days as they posed for a photo on the red carpet at the premiere of the film Love Hurts on Monday, Feb. 3.
The film stars Goonies actors Sean Astin and Ke Huy Quan, who walked the carpet alongside Jeff Cohen, Kerri Green and Corey Feldman.
The romantic action comedy stars Quan, 53, as a hitman-turned-realtor whose past comes back to him. Astin, also 53, plays his boss in the film.
The film premieres 40 years after the two men starred in the now-iconic 1985 film, The Goonies. NBC News reports that their new film’s production notes includes a quote from Quan about his reunion with Astin on set.
“The day Sean arrived on set, I dropped everything and ran to give him a big hug,” Quan said, per NBC News. “We’re brothers for life because of that movie. When we finally shot our first scene together, I was transported back to 1985. All the cameras and everyone around us disappeared — it was just me and him. I was that kid again, remembering that exchange: ‘Hey Data, where are you going?’ ‘I’m setting booty traps.’ ‘You mean booby traps.’ To share the screen with him again after all these years is an amazing gift.”
The reunion came just hours after members of the cast came together on Monday afternoon to celebrate Quan at his hand and footprint ceremony at the TCL Chinese Theatre in Los Angeles.
On deck for the celebration was the film’s screenwriter Chris Columbus and costars Feldman, Cohen, Green and Josh Brolin, who spoke at the event.
“You’re truly one of the last existences of the American dream. Ke Huy Quan … I won’t say much but that after The Goonies, I too lived in the ethers of our business for 19 years. The only difference is I was still chipping away at leftovers and trading stocks full time while you pursued a whole other profession and excelled in it famously,” Brolin said

He continued: “You have that Midas touch, my friend, and you have it because you have that heart of gold that you always have.”
Prior to their recent interactions, the cast last reunited virtually in 2020 in an event hosted by actor Josh Gad.
