Walton Goggins Reveals ‘Fallout’ Season 2 Raises Show to “Another Level”

The second season of Prime Video’s critically-acclaimed video game adaptation Fallout is still in production, but that hasn’t stopped one of its main stars from teasing a “magical” new batch of episodes that elevates the series to another level. Walton Goggins, who recently starred in The White Lotus Season 3 and currently appears in The Righteous Gemstones, will once again be featured as the gun-toting immortal cowboy Ghoul in Fallout Season 2. He recently gave out some exciting details about the upcoming season, which “really starts cooking.”

During an interview with Complex, Goggins was quick to praise Fallout Season 2, teasing fans that it will reach another level as a result of the first season laying the groundwork for the post-apocalyptic world and all of its quirks. As someone who has formed part of several beloved shows that have gone on for more than one season, Goggins is especially equipped to make this statement. Furthermore, it is very reassuring to hear from the two-time Emmy nominee that Fallout continues to raise the stakes and push the boundaries of the genre it plays around.

“Now that people understand what the world is, this story takes it to a whole nother level. I’ve been around a long time and usually the second season really starts cooking. That’s when some real magic can happen.”

Rick Hatchett’s journey to Thailand in ‘The White Lotus’ has a tragic connection to actor Walton Goggins’ past.

Alongside Goggins, Fallout Season 2 will see the return of Ella Purnell (Yellowjackets) and Aaron Moten (Emancipation) as Lucy and Maximus, respectively. The show will be headed to New Vegas, the iconic location of the beloved video game title Fallout: New Vegas, as teased in the twist-filled finale that aired last year. The trio will likely also be joined by Moisés Arias (The King of Staten Island), Kyle MacLachlan (Twin Peaks), Leslie Uggams (Deadpool), Frances Turner (The Boys), Dave Register (Heightened), Zach Cherry (Severance), Johnny Pemberton (Ant-Man), Rodrigo Luzzi (Dead Ringers), Annabel O’Hagan (Law & Order: SVU), and Xelia Mendes-Jones (The Wheel of Time). Meanwhile, new cast members include Macaulay Culkin and Eternals star Kumail Nanjiani, who have undisclosed recurring roles.

‘Fallout’ Star Almost Spoiled Season 2, Teases Exciting References to game

Prime Video

As of this writing, Fallout Season 2 does not have a release date just yet. However, Ella Purnell recently took the time to discuss the upcoming season, teasing another “fun” outing that will have some “big twists and turns.” She also recognized that being a faithful video game adaptation is difficult, as its digital counterpart allows players to experience the story in a much different way. Thankfully, Prime Video’s Fallout captures the world through its three protagonists, all of whom have a unique perspective on life and morality.

“It’s obviously incredibly hard to adapt a video game because you’re changing the entire experience. You’re no longer in control of the thing; you’re watching someone else do it. I think they did a really great job by letting The Ghoul, Maximus, and Lucy be these very huge archetypes, and you get to experience the game/series from so many different players’ perspectives. I don’t have anything to do with that.

However, Purnell accidentally let it slip that playing the games gives viewers an even better appreciation of Season 2, especially when a certain event happens. She cuts herself short before spoiling the moment, but it’s clear fans might want to play Fallout: New Vegas before the streaming series returns.

“But why I am glad they are games is that it gives me a greater appreciation, like the first time… Oh I can’t say that. The first time something happens [in the games and season 2], you just get a greater appreciation.”
