Where Is Craig Melvin on the ‘Today’ Show in 2025?
When Craig Melvin started working on the Today show back in 2018, he never expected he’d become a co-anchor on the program.
Craig has officially been a co-anchor for the primetime hours on the hit NBC show since January, and folks tune in to watch him report the latest in current events and all things culture and entertainment. What’s more, his rapport with his fellow co-anchors continues to draw in viewers, and he seems to be the perfect fit for this role in daytime television.
While Craig is a familiar face on Today, fans were concerned about his well-being when he didn’t appear on TV the week of April 14. So, where is Craig Melvin on the Today show in 2025? As it turns out, there is a good reason behind his absence — and it has to do with his wife Lindsay Czarniak and their children, Delano and Sybil.

Why isn’t Craig Melvin on the Today show?
It turns out Craig is just like many of us, and he decided to take some time off with his family for spring break.
Savannah Guthrie was actually the person to reveal Craig’s vacation plans when the two were talking to NBC sports commentator Mike Tirico about the PGA Tour Masters Tournament during the Today show’s April 10 broadcast. She shared how Craig was going to be off the air for the week of April 14, and she was excited to have Mike fill in for him.
“By the way — we’ve got some special news!” Savannah shared in a clip posted on Instagram. “After Mike gets his fill of golf, all next week he’s going to join us right here in Studio 1A. Craig’s going on Easter break with his kids. Tirico, you are going to fill in and co-host!”
“Melvin showed he can host the Olympics when I was traveling back and forth,” Mike added. “So, I figure that we can go for an even trade here. I’m looking forward to being with y’all next week.”
Upon learning of Craig’s impending time off, fans were happy to see that he was going to spend time with loved ones — and seemed excited for Mike to take his spot in the meantime.
“Have a great vacation Craig but having Mike fill in will be fun to watch,” one person wrote in the comments. “Mike is so adorable … Happy vacay, @craigmelvinnbc,” another penned. “Can’t wait! It’ll be a fun week!” a different viewer added.
Even though Craig will be off the air for the next week, we can’t wait to see what happens when he returns to the Today show all rested!
