The Writers Guild of America East and ABC News have agreed on a new three-year deal.
What’s Happening:
- Deadline reports that the Writers Guild of America East have “overwhelmingly” ratified this new three-year deal with ABC News, which include AI protections and big financial gains.
- In this new deal, ABC News will not lay off any current staff employees and, going forward, must announce implementation of AI systems at least three weeks in advance. The two parties have also agreed to regularly meet to discuss AI.
- A 3.5% pay increase per year for three years has been agreed to, alongside additional paid time off, contributions of health funds, and great attribution for writers.
